The Perseverant Lady Builders Fall to Warren Wilson Owls in EMAC Championship

IN SUMMARY:

 The Lady Builders fought hard but fell to the Warren Wilson Owls in the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament championship on Saturday. The lady Builders trailed the whole game but kept up the momentum and staying within in single digits for the majority of the game.

In the first half of game, the Lady Builders were off to a slow start falling behind early in the first stanza. They would close the gap in beginning of the second stanza, but fell behind allowing the Owls  to extend the lead to nine with 3:41 left in the half. The Lady builders would fight back with two 3-point jump shots by Aquazia Jones and an And-1 layup by Alexis Wethington, only trialing by 1 at the end of the half, 28-29.

The Lady Builders continued to stay close to the owls, only trailing by 5 at the most throughout the bulk of third stanza, until the Owls advanced the lead to nine again with 2:29 remaining and extending that lead to twelve at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Builders were able to close the gap to 6 points before falling to the Owls 75-81.

The Lady Builders had four players score double digits. Aquazia Jones capped off her collegiate career leading with 22 points scored and a total of 14 rebounds. Brittney Jones and Alena Puaauli-Pelham both contributed 16 points, and Alexis Wethington scoring 12 points.
