Chevres, Harrison, Lane Earn Player Of The Week Honors

Three Apprentice School athletes were honored with awards on Tuesday from the Atlantic Central Football Conference and the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association.

Junior Marcus Chevres won Wrestler of the Week honors in the USCAA also for the second straight week.  Chevres, an outside machinist apprentice from Norfolk, Va., took second at 133 pounds in the Ursinus Fall Brawl last Saturday in Collegeville, Pa.  He went 4-1 in the event with three of those wins by fall.  On the year Chevres sports a 12-3 record.

Junior Isaih Harrison won Men's Division I Player of the Week honors for his performance in the men's basketball team's opening 2-1 weekend in Maine.  The native of Abbeville, La. and a sheet metal apprentice, Harrison averaged 21.3 points and 15.3 rebounds with three double-doubles on the weekend.  He had 27 points against Southern Maine CC and matched his career-high with 18 rebounds against Central Maine CC.

Sophomore Marlon Lane earned his second straight Special Teams Player of the Week award from the ACFC.  Lane, a maintenance electrician apprentice from Severn, Md., returned a blocked filed goal 85 yards for a touchdown against Webber International.  This marked the second straight game he returned a blocked kick for points as he returned a blocked extra-point attempt at Frostburg State for two points on November 6.

Congratulations to Chevres, Harrison and Lane.
