Wrestlers Take Fourth At Central Florida Open - Anderson Sets Career Falls Record

ORLANDO, FLA. – The Apprentice School wrestling team finished fourth out of 15 teams on Saturday in the Central Florida Open held at the University of Central Florida.

Junior Ricky Anderson won the 157 –pound weight class winning three matches with two of those coming by fall.  With his win in the final over Hunter Allen of Mercer University, he broke the career falls record with 52.  The former record was 51 held by Cecil Lee set two years ago.  On the year he is now 17-3 and sports a career record of 69-25.

Freshman Willie Crawford won the 184-pound weight class winning three matches by decision.  He defeated Luke Weiss of North Florida in the final 9-2.  On the year he now has a 12-3 record after going 2-1 in the duals on Friday night.

Junior Marcus Chevres lost in the final at 133 pounds to Steve DeAugustino of Central Florida.  Chevres advanced with a win by fall and a 10-1 major decision.  The Norfolk native now sports a 16-5 record and a career mark of 75-28.

Kyle Spruill took third place at 157 pounds with a 4-1 record on the day and Jeremy Diley took third at 285 with a 3-1 mark on the day to join the top three rankings for the Builders in the event.  Apprentice School also took two fourth-places, three fifth-places and two sixth-place finishes in the tournament.

The Builders will now travel to York, Pennsylvania on December 5 for the York Spartan Invitational.
