Anderson, Ours Finish In Top Six As Wrestlers Take Seventh At York Spartan Invitational

YORK, PA. – Junior Ricky Anderson and sophomore Steven Ours each finished in the top six to lead the wrestling team on Saturday as they finished seventh in the York College Spartan Invitational.

Anderson went 2-1 at 157 pounds to finish in the top six.  He spent barely a minute on the mat in his two wins as he pinned Matthew Kiempa of Elizabethtown in 42 seconds and Kristopher Shirley of Brockport State in 24 seconds before an injury default to Derek Brunson of Ithaca eliminated him from the tournament.  The Chesapeake, Va. native is now 19-4 on the year.

Ours went 3-2 at 174 pounds to finish in the top six.  After an early loss to third-seeded Scott Lowe of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, he also went on a winning spree with three in a row by fall.  He pinned Kyle McKeighan of Ithaca (1:27), Joshua Cook of Elizabethtown (2:23) and David Melnick of York College (1:25) before losing to Lowe again.  The Alexandria, Va. native is now 13-8 on the year.

Apprentice School will next compete on Dec. 11 in the University of Maryland Baltimore County Retriever Duals.
