The Apprentice School wrestling team competed on Saturday in the Washington & Lee Invitational in Lexington and took second place out of seven teams in the event with 75.5 points. Washington & Jefferson won the event with 79.5, followed by the Builders and New York University was third with 59 points.
Apprentice School took home two individual titles as sophomore Ty Ford won the 125 pound weight class defeating Mike Murcia of University of Scranton 6-3. He had lost to Murcia earlier in the year in a dual match and gained a margin of revenge with the win.
Also winning individual honors was junior Marcus Chevres at 133 pounds as he defeated Steve Contino of New York University by fall in 2:18 to take home that title. With his wins on Saturday, Chevres is now 26-6 on the year.
Three Builders took second place in their weight classes with Kyle Spruill at 157 pounds, Steven Ours at 174 and Jeremy Diley at heavyweight.
Also on Saturday night, Ricky Anderson competed in the American Airlines All-Star Challenge going 1-1 in a pair of matches. The opener saw him win by fall in a dual against the Florida All-Stars in 1:32 of the first period. His final match was against Brad Cusatis of Hastings College where he lost 12-2.
The Builders wrestle on the home mats on Saturday when they host the 31st annual Builder Invitational starting at 9 am in Apprentice Gym.
