Six Wrestlers Take Titles At USCAA Invitational

DUBOIS, PA. – The Apprentice School wrestling team competed in the first United States Collegiate Athletic Association Invitational on Saturday at Penn State DuBois and came away with six individual titles in the event.

Sophomore Ty Ford won the 125 pound weight class by avenging a loss from the night before in defeating Nick Bogacki of the host school by a 4-3 decision.  Junior BJ Compton bumped up a weight class to 157 pounds and won that bracket by defeating Tyler Myers of Penn College 11-7 in the finals.

Junior Ricky Anderson also bumped up a weight class to 165-pounds and won that with his third fall of the weekend pinning Ryan Terwilliger from Penn State DuBois in 1:10.  Fellow junior Anthony Damico, who also went up to 174 pounds, pulled a 16-8 major decision over Steven Terwilliger of the host school to win that bracket.

At 197 pounds, both sophomore Stuart Roes and junior Willie Crawford advanced to the finals and were declared co-champions.

Apprentice School now will hit the home mat on February 12 when they'll take on Washington & Lee University in a 1 pm dual at Apprentice Gym.
