MACON, GA. -- The Apprentice School wrestling team concluded action on Saturday at the 2011 National Collegiate Wrestling Association National Championships with a seventh place finish out of 77 teams in the tournament.

Three wrestlers competed on Saturday with All-American honors clinched.  Junior Marcus Chevres lost to second-seeded Steve DeAugustino of Central Florida 6-3 in the semifinals Saturday morning.  He dropped into the consolation bracket and defeated Xenepher Austin of Marion Military Institute 2-1 and then Kekura Musa of University of Maryland Baltimore County 11-0 to take third. 

Chevres is now a three-time All-American after a pair of runnerup finishes in his first two years.  The Norfolk native ended the season with a 45-10 record to equal the third most wins in a single season in school history.  He tied current assistant coach Micah Amrozowicz (45-8 in 2006) and Will Harcum (45-11 in 2010) for third most wins.  He enters his final season with the third most wins in school history as he sports a 104-33 record.

Fellow junior Ricky Anderson ended a record-setting season by finishing sixth at 157 pounds.  The Chesapeake native went 1-1 on Saturday scoring a fall in 1:41 over Austen Brower of William & Mary in the consolation quarterfinals before injuring himself in the consolation semifinal.  That prevented him for wrestling for fifth place so he took sixth and his first NCWA All-American honor.

On the year he finished with a school record 51-8 becoming the first Builder wrestler to earn 50 wins in a season.  He also set the school single season falls record (43) and has pushed his career falls record to 81 heading into his senior season.  Anderson is right behind Chevres on the all-time wins list sitting in fourth with a 103-30 record.

Freshman Willie Crawford completed a strong first season with a fourth-place finish at 184 pounds.  He lost in the semifinals in the morning to Dalton Henderson of the Air Force Prep School by fall before scoring an 11-9 win over C.J. Knowland of Cal Baptist in the consolation semifinals.  He then lost in the third-place match to William Miller of Navy Prep by fall. On the year, the Fluvanna native finished with a 37-8 record for the eighth most wins in a single season. 

With the three NCWA All-Americans today, the Builders raised their all-time total to 70 in 12 years of competition in the NCWA.
