LEXINGTON, Va. – Junior Kyle Spruill topped four Apprentice School wrestlers in the top three by winning the 149-pound bracket at the VMI Rat Open held Saturday at Cocke Hall on the Virginia Military Institute campus.

Spruill went 3-0 to win his bracket, while sophomore Ty Ford was 1-1 to finish second at 125 pounds.  Freshman Dwayne Roes also competed at 125 pounds and went 1-1 to take third place and junior Kevin Gray was 2-1 at heavyweight to finish third. 

Host VMI was joined by Campbell University, Washington & Lee University, Davidson College and Southern Virginia along with the Builders to compete in the event.
