Two Builder Athletes Earn USCAA Player Of The Week Recognition

The United States Collegiate Athletic Association Players of the Week were announced on Tuesday and two Apprentice School athletes were honored for their performances in the past week.

Men's basketball sophomore Johnnie Ferebee was Men's Division I Player of the Week for his performance on January 2 when the Builders defeated NCAA Division III 23rd-ranked Virginia Wesleyan College 100-89.  Ferebee, a sophomore rigger apprentice from Norfolk, VA, scored 20 of his career-high 29 points in the first half as the Builders defeated Virginia Wesleyan College.  He was 9-of-13 from the floor, 10-of-12 from the foul line and hit his only three-point attempt en route to his career-high 29 points.

Wrestling freshman Phillip Porto was named Wrester of the Week for his performance in the Waynesburg Invitational on January 5.  Porto, a freshman machinist apprentice from Virginia Beach, VA, went 5-1 in the tournament and finished third.  Three of his wins came by fall and his only loss came to the eventual tournament champion from Waynesburg University.
