Apprentice School Wrestlers Topple Penn State DuBois 27-13

DUBOIS, PA. – The Apprentice School opened a Pennsylvania weekend on Friday night with a 27-13 dual match win over Penn State DuBois in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association matchup.

Apprentice School (12-8) opened the match up quickly winning the first four bouts, as three were with bonus points.  Seniors Ty Ford and Kyle Spruill each won by major decision, while freshman Nick Devanny got a forfeit win at 141 pounds.  The Spruill win put the Builders ahead 17-0.

Penn State DuBois bounced back winning the next four bouts with only a bonus point win at 174 pounds by Ryan Terwilliger in a major decision to cut the deficit to 17-10 after a win at 184 pounds.

With neither team fielding a 197 pounder, senior Kevin Gray scored a win by fall in 2:55 at 235 pounds and sophomore Ian Jones closed out the dual with a 10-1 major decision at heavyweight for the 27-13 final.

The Builders return to action on Saturday in State College, Pa. at the 2013 USCAA National Invitational held on the Penn State campus at Rec Hall.  Apprentice School is the defending champion in the event.
