The Apprentice School earned a pair of U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week awards as they were announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Jay Melendez earned Men's Division I Player of the Week honors as he averaged 21.7 points per game in the 3-0 start for the Builders.  He earned MVP honors at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Tipoff after a career-high 25 point-15 rebound performance in the championship game.  Melendez is an outside machinist from Suffolk, Va.

Junior 174-pounder Kenny Lowry was named the USCAA Wrestler of the Week for his 2-0 performance last weekend as the Builders won a tri-match at West Chester University.  Lowry, bumping up a weight class to 184 pounds, took an 18-4 major decision win against West Chester and won by 7-6 decision against University of Delaware to raise his record to 7-4 on the year.  Lowry is a pipefitter apprentice from Warren, MI.

The men's team returns home on Wednesday night to face Mid-Atlantic Christian University at 7 pm, while the wrestling team will participate in the Shorter Open on Saturday in Rome, Georgia.
