IN BRIEF: The 2014-15 Apprentice School wrestling season got off to a good start on Saturday as the Builders won four dual matches at the Penn State Mont Alto Duals.

DUALS

BUILDERS 33, PSU MONT ALTO 19
In the opening match of the season, the Builders took on the host school and scored a 33-14 win.  Apprentice School opened with a win by forfeit, by injury default and a win by fall from Michael Holcomb in 36 seconds at 141 pounds to take an 18-0 lead early.
The hosts won four of the next five bouts to get the deficit to 24-13 after a win at 184 pounds.  Chris Kennedy won for the Builders at 157 by fall in 4:46 to keep the Builders ahead.
In the last three bouts, Josh Rodriguez took a won by forfeit at 197 and Ian Jones won by a 2-0 decision at heavyweight for a 33-19 Apprentice School win.

BUILDERS 51, PITTSBURGH 5
The next match saw the Builders score wins by fall in three of the first four matches and win 10 of 11 bouts for the 51-5 victory.  Jacob Michaels won by fall in 22 seconds at 125 pounds to start the match and was joined in the fall count by Thomas Payne (133 lbs/4:40), Tyrell Watkins (149/1:22) and Jones (285/2:15) as the Builders cruised to a win.

BUILDERS 25, WVU TECH 18
This was the tightest match of the day as the Builders took on NAIA and USCAA member West Virginia University Tech.   The Apprentice School jumped out to a 19-0 lead as they won the first four bouts with bonus point wins at 125 by Michael (major decision 15-3), 141 by Holcomb (fall in 23 seconds) and 149 by Watkins (fall in 24 seconds).
WVU Tech then ripped off the next five bouts with only a bonus point win at 184 by fall to head into the heavyweight match down 19-18.  Jones iced the win for the Builders with a win by fall in 18 seconds for the 25-18 victory.

BUILDERS 45, PENN STATE FAYETTE 12
In the first meeting between the schools, the Builders got wins by fall in four of the first six bouts as they took a 45-12 win over Penn State Fayette.  Michael started the run with a win in 1:35 at 125 followed by Payne (133 lbs/:1:42), Holcomb (149/:24) and Patrick Foxworth (165/:50) as the Builders took a commanding  33-0 lead and scored their fourth win on the day.

BEHIND THE MAT

• Five Builders went undefeated on the day as Michael, Payne and Holcomb all went 4-0 with Jones (3-0) and Watkins (2-0) joining them in the undefeated ranks.
• The scheduled fifth match of the day with Penn State Greater Allegheny was cancelled due to injuries for Greater Allegheny.

NEXT UP
The Builders return to Pennsylvania next Saturday for four more dual matches in the University of Scranton Electric City Duals on November 8.  They'll face the host Royals along with Penn College, Penn State DuBois and University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
