IN BRIEF: Three Builders took second and four more took fourth place finishes as The Apprentice School wrestling team finished a weekend in Arlington, Texas competing in the Southwest Open hosted by the University of Texas-Arlington.
ON THE MAT
- In the 13-team event that had no team scoring, the Builders had sophomore Patrik Foxworth take second place at 157 pounds going 3-1 on the day. He opened with a win by fall over Will Sever of Texas A&M in 1:31 and then recorded a tech fall 23-7 win over Damarea Speller of Wayland Baptist (TX). In the semifinals he earned a major decision win over Chris Thompson of Wayland Baptist 13-5 and then lost 3-2 to Kane Lovvorn also of Wayland Baptist.
- Junior Josh Rodriguez took second at 197 pounds as he went 3-1 on the day. Rodriguez scored wins by fall in his first two matches with one over Brandon Ott of Ottawa University (KS) in 55 seconds and Jesus Robledo of Texas-Arlington in 1:50 to make the semifinals. In the semis he took a 16-4 major decision over Tim McCutcheon on Wayland Baptist before falling 4-2 to Kasey Crump of Ottawa in the finals.
- Senior Ian Jones also went 3-1 at heavyweight to take second place. He won three matches by fall to make the finals before losing 7-2 to Markese Christian of Wayland Baptist. To earn second he won by fall in 2:12 over William Shepard of Wayland Baptist, won in 6:26 over Ivan Loya of Texas-Arlington and in 5:20 over Kurland Parks of Central Baptist.
- Four wrestlers took fourth place finishes as Michael Holcomb was 3-2 at 133 pounds, Robert Saunders was 4-2 at 141, Chris Kennedy 4-2 at 149 and Kyle Lowry was 3-2 at 157 pounds.

The Builders are now off until December 6 when they'll participate in the New Standard Corporation Invitational hosted by York College (PA).
