Rodriguez Named USCAA Wrestler Of The Week

Apprentice School junior 197-pounder Josh Rodriguez was named on Tuesday as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week for the week ending January 4.

Rodriguez, a production planner apprentice from Virginia Beach, won his bracket at the Waynesburg Invitational on January 3.  He won his first match by fall over Max Pylayev of NCAA Division II Alderson-Broaddus in just four minutes then went onto win two matches over teammates from NCAA Division III Ohio Northern University.  In his final match, he won by a score of 7-5 in overtime over Dillon Brancheau.  On the year, Rodriguez is 19-5.

This makes the second straight week a Builder wrestler won the award as Thomas Payne captured the honor on December 16.

The Builders are in action this weekend in the 35th annual Virginia Duals starting at 11 am on Friday against Liberty University.
