IN BRIEF: The Apprentice School went 1-2 on Friday and finished seventh in the American College Division of the 35th annual Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum on Friday.

LIBERTY 40, APPRENTICE 12
The Flames opened up with a pair of six-point wins taking the 125-pound match by fall and the 133 by forfeit to lead 12-0.  Issac Podell pushed the advantage to 15-0 with a win at 141 pounds for Liberty.
Apprentice School got on the board with a win by fall from Ty Watkins at 149 pounds in 3:57 to trim the deficit to 15-6.  Patrik Foxworth scored a late takedown to win in sudden victory at 157 pounds by a 7-5 count to make the score 15-9.
Liberty took wins in the next three matches, with two coming by bonus points to push the lead to 28-9 after 184 pounds.
Josh Rodriguez scored the final points in the bout for the Builders as he won the 197-pound match by a 4-3 count making the score 28-12.

FERRUM 39, APPRENTICE SCHOOL 12
As like the first match for the Builders, Ferrum opened with a pair of wins at 125 and 133 to take a 12-0 advantage.
Apprentice School responded as Michael Holcomb pinned NCAA Division III National Tournament qualifier Logan Meister in 38 seconds at 141 pounds to cut the deficit in half at 12-6.
Following a Ferrum win at 149, junior Chris Kennedy scored an 8-4 win over Daniel Reynolds at 157 as the Builders trailed 15-9.  Kyle Lowry matched that with a decision win at 165 pounds by a 7-2 count to bring the Builders to 15-12.
The Panthers put the match away by winning the last four bouts, all by fall, to give them the 39-12 victory.

APPRENTICE SCHOOL 30, CENTRAL FLORIDA 18
In the seventh-place match, the Knights scored wins by decision and forfeit in the first two weight classes to take a 9-0 advantage.
The Builders won the next five bouts with Holcomb and Watkins starting the run by picking up wins by fall at 141 and 149 respectively to lead 21-9 after a Kenny Lowry win at 174.
UCF scored a win by fall at 184 to trim the deficit to 21-15, while Josh Rodriguez got a little momentum back for the Builders with a 7-2 win at 197 to put them up 24-15.
A forfeit win at 235 for Jordan McCree of the Builders locked up the dual match for the Apprentice School.
