Apprentice School junior Kenny Lowry was named on Tuesday as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1.
Lowry, a junior pipefitter apprentice from Warren, MI, was a perfect 5-0 with three wins by fall on Sunday as the Apprentice School went 5-0 to win the Builder Duals. He scored a key 5-3 decision at 184 pounds against East Carolina University in a match that the Builders pulled out a 28-22 win. For the year, Lowry is 20-14.
The team broke the single-season school record for most wins as they now have a 22-5 record. Apprentice School now heads north to Pennsylvania on Feb. 14 to face Penn State DuBois in their final dual match of the season at 3 pm. The next morning they'll compete in the USCAA National Invitational at State College, Pa.
