Apprentice School senior heavyweight Ian Jones was named on Monday to the second team All-State Wrestling squad by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association. It marks the fourth year that Jones was recognized by the association on its only team that combines all divisions of schools in the state, which makes him the first four-time recipient in school history.
Jones, a heavy metal fabricator apprentice from Painesville, Ohio, was a four-time National Collegiate Wrestling Association All-American and the third Builder to win four NCWA All-American awards. He finished his career with a school record 156 wins and was 41-9 as a senior while finishing fourth at nationals. Jones had winning streaks this year of 12, 11 and nine in a row.
