Wrestling Host The Builder Duals Saturday, Feb. 2nd At 10:00 AM

The Builder Duals will be held at The Apprentice School Saturday, Feb 2nd beginning at 10 am.

The three NCWA teams visiting are William and Mary, James Madison University, and East Carolina University.

The showcase matchup will be #1 ranked NCWA Division 1 Apprentice School vs #1 ranked NCWA Division 2 East Carolina.  Both teams had excellent showings last weekend, ECU finishing in 2nd at the NCWA Regional Duals in Akron, OH and Apprentice also finished in 2nd at the NCWA National Duals in Las Vegas, NV.

Several potential high-profile showdowns in the line-up:

At 141 lbs, Ty Boyd of Apprentice and Wesley Hollingsworth of ECU are ranked #2 and #3 in the Nation respectively.  Hollingsworth finished on the podium in 4th place at the national tournament last March at 141 lbs and currently boasts a 17-3 record.  Boyd is looking to become one of the rare four time All-Americans for Apprentice, most recently finishing in 6th at 149 lbs last March.  Neither wrestler has lost to any NCWA opponent this season.

Calvin Kopstein of JMU is 8-1 and currently ranked #15 at 165, but dominated the Builder Invitational at 149 lbs two weekends ago.  He has wins over #6 at 157 and #10 at 149.  Kopstein could likely meet Tristan Mabe (#13 at 157) who is coming off a win over defending champion Zach Blevins at the National Duals.

At 174 lbs, #3 ranked Peter Becher of ECU has been out the majority of the season, but should he make his return this weekend he could meet #8 Dan Henson or #16 Jeremy Mosley of Apprentice.  Becher finished in 6th at nationals last season at 165, while Henson was eliminated in the blood-round at 174 lbs.

At 184 lbs, Ryan Thomas of JMU was the Builder Invitational Champ two weekends ago.  Thomas will likely meet 4th ranked Wes Sorey of Apprentice, who was absent at the Builder.

Steven Francisco of Apprentice is currently #6 at 235 lbs.  He could meet #13 Mark Sizemore of JMU who was 3rd at the Builder Invite.  Also in the mix is Builder Russ Pierce who traded wins with Sizemore at the Builder invite.

At 285 lbs, #5 Peter Cortapasso of Apprentice and #10 Thomas Hudson of ECU met in the Builder Invitational finals, with Passo winning by fall.  The two will likely square off again Saturday.
