The Builder Wrestling squad fell to Liberty University for the second consecutive year to repeat as the NCWA National Duals runner-up.
Saturday morning Apprentice posted a statement win over Washington State 48-9 advancing to the semifinals. The Builders would win nine of ten contested bouts, posting bonus points in all nine wins.
In the semifinals, Apprentice stopped Central Florida with a 38-18 victory. They would go up 20-0 early after a pair of pins from Kolin Johnson and Shalek Colon, and a pair of major decisions from Colton Messick and Thomas Allison. A forfeit for Dillon Messick at 165 sealed the win for Apprentice before UCF would win three straight. Russ Pierce capped off the win with a first period pin.
In the Championship finals, Apprentice would go up 13-0 after a major decision from Messick at 125, a forfeit at 133, and a 8-6 decision for Colon over 7th ranked Charlie Hudson. Liberty would go on to win the remaining five contested bouts and three forfeits to defend their dual title 43-13.
