Builders Beat East Carolina in Final Season Dual

The Builder wrestling squad hosted conference rivals East Carolina Saturday for which would be the last dual meet of the season.  Several key matchups were anticipated for conference seeding, but unfortunately did not materialize.  Apprentice won four of six contested bouts, winning with a 47-9 final team score.

 

Freshman Dillon Messick stepped in at 125 lbs, recording a second period pin for his first home dual win.  After a loss at 133, Apprentice received two forfeits and another loss at 157.

 

2017 All-American Bryson Woody made a triumphant return to the mat, recording a 19-3 technical fall at 165 lbs over 14th ranked Adam Aldridge.  Woody has not seen action since a season ending injury in his first match of last season.

 

At 197 lbs, Wes Sorey recorded a second period pin.  Wes is currently tied for 2nd on the team with total wins at 24, and is tied for most major-decision wins at 5.

 

In the final bout of the day, 4th ranked Russ Pierce recorded a pin just after the first minute mark at 235 lbs. 

 

Next up; After a shor break, Apprentice will travel to Penn State Fayette to compete in the USCAA Invitational on Sunday, Feb 16.  Apprentice has won the event five times since its creation in 2011.
