Builders Defeat Anna Maria, Move to 3-1

IN BRIEF: The Builders traveled a long way to face the Amcats of Anna Maria College. The Builders entered this game with a record of 2-1 and the Amcats with a record of 0-4. It was the winless Amcats who struck first when Alex Cohen's 4 yard touchdown pass to Emmanuel Leake capped off a 13 play 68 yard drive to start the game after the Builders turned the ball over on downs.

The remainder of the 1st quarter would be a sloppy one, but the Builders eventually found their stride. With 8:25 until halftime and the Amcats holding a 6-0 lead, Mason Tatum found Cruyff Fleurine for a 31 yard reception that would set up a 1st and goal. Mason Tatum eventaully finished the drive with a 4 yard touchdown run that had given the Builders a 7-6 lead. The Builder defense quickly forced a three and out on the next drive and handed the ball back over to the offense. 

This time, a 10 play 98 yard drive was capped off with an 18 yard touchdown pass from Tatum to Justin Lund. The Builders would lead 14 to 6. On the following kickoff, Jeremiah Morgan kicked the ball 31 yards, only to be recovered by The Apprentice School kicking team. Tatum would quickly get to work as he found Kwaytavious Blackwell for a 15 yard recepetion and then a 19 yard touchdown reception to give the Builders a 21 to 6 lead at halftime. 

The Builder defense continued their dominance and forced a three and out on the first drive of the 3rd quarter. The Builder offense kept in stride when Tatum once again found the endzone on a 3 yard rush. 28 to 6 Builders in the 3rd Quarter. The two teams traded a few punts before Anna Maria would finally get back on the board and cut the lead to 28 to 12. 

Late in the 4th quarter, Theo Wheeler found the endzone on a 1 yard rush and the Builders would be up 35 to 12. The Amcats finished the game with a touchdown and a two point conversion. The Builders held on to defeat the Amcats by a final score of 35 to 20.

UP NEXT: The Builders face an upcoming bye week but will be back in action on October 19th when they take on Louisburg College at home for a 1:00 game.
