2011 Builder Baseball Invitational Kicks Off Today

The 2011 Builder Baseball Invitational begins its four-day run at War Memorial Stadium this afternoon as the Apprentice School opens the tournament facing Bloomsburg University at 3 pm.

In the second game today, Kutztown University will face Lock Haven University starting around 6 pm.  Friday and Saturday will see four games each day starting at 9 am, while Sunday's championship round will begin at 9 am with the final scheduled for approximately 3 pm.  Defending USCAA National Champion Briarcliffe College also is in the field and will start play on Friday.

Apprentice School faces Kutztown on Friday (noon), Briarcliffe on Saturday (noon) and Lock Haven on Saturday (3 pm).

The Builders and Kutztown are the only ones to have played games thus far as Apprentice School defeated College of the Albemarle 8-7 in 12 innings on Saturday.  Kutztown, who has won this tournament six years in a row and nine of 13, went 1-2 against Barton College on Feb. 5-6.  The Golden Bears enter the tournament ranked in three national polls for NCAA Division II - PING Baseball (5th), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (5th) and Collegiate Baseball Magazine (9th).
