Football Returns Home To Face Alfred State

The Apprentice School football team returns to the home field on Saturday for a noon kickoff against United States Collegiate Athletic Association member Alfred State.  These teams have already met this year in Alfred, NY as the Pioneers took a 44-30 victory.

Alfred State holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series as the home team has won each of the games played.  The Builders scored a 35-20 win on Oct. 20, 2012 at Apprentice Field.

Sophomore Joseph Hodge leads the Builders in rushing with 538 yards in seven games with four touchdowns.  Freshman Brandon Jordan is next with 355 yards and leads the team with five touchdowns.

Freshman quarterback Deon Lavender has completed almost 58% of his passes for 526 yards and two touchdowns.  Senior Trevon Johnson has caught 23 passes for 481 yards and four touchdowns to lead the receivers.

Defensively, senior Erol Carter has 48 tackles and 8.5 for a loss while sophomore Brandon Hampton has 46 tackles and six pass breakups.

Alfred State has rode senior Rasheed Williams out of the backfield this year as he has rushed for 1,238 yards in seven games.  He has ran for 650 yards in the last two meetings between the schools.

Both teams are averaging 20 points per game, while the Builders have allowed five fewer per game than the Pioneers (33.6-38.3).
