Golf to Compete in USCAA National Championship Tournament

State College, PA – The Apprentice School Golf Team will travel to State College, PA to compete in the 2021 USCAA Small College Golf National Championship.  The National Invitational will be held October 11th-12th at the Penn State Blue Course and all the Builders Golfers have qualified for the event.  While the team has had only a few matches this season, Coach Maben has his team well rested and ready to compete with some of the best USCAA golfers in the country.

David Grimm enters Nationals averaging a score of 83/round, with a low round of 80 this season.  Ethan Flanders recorded a low round of 81 on the season contributing to his average of 87, while William Graves shot a personal season best of 84 and enters the first round with an 88 average.  To round out the Apprentice foursome, Zach Welch comes into the National Championship with a scoring average of 90, with a season best of 87.

"We are very fortunate to get back to National after competing in 11 straight, but having to miss last year," said Head Coach Joey Maben.  "We have been succesful in having a two-time individual National Champion and a runner-up, with the team finishing in the top 5 three tmes.  We are rebuilding and theis is the smallest team we have had to date.  I have challenged the guys to play thier own game nad to be smart.  Ethan Flanders will be playing in his first National Championship, while Davey Grimm is competing in his last, so it is bitter sweet.  We are able to take our newest recruit, Jeremy Carr from Gloucester High School, on the the trip but he will not compete.  However, he will get to see the challenging Division 1 Blue Course, so we are excited for the opportunity."
