NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School Director of Education Dr. Latitia D. McCane has named Jeff Egnot the new Director of Athletics, effective today, May 22, 2023. Egnot makes his way back to The Apprentice School after serving as an Account Executive for Cox Business for over a year.

Prior to his time at Cox, he spent six years as an Assistant Athletic Director at The Apprentice School, where he was responsible for compliance, sports information and academics. He also spent two years as an Organizational Development Rep 3, Performance Coach for Newport News Shipbuilding from March 2019 through February 2021.

Egnot is a 2002 graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Physical Education. He earned his Master’s Degree in Administration K-12 from Cambridge College in 2013. 

While at Oscar Smith Middle School, he was a Health and Physical Education Teacher and served as the Athletic Director from 2007 until joining Apprentice in 2014. As the Athletic Director, he supervised the school’s 10 athletic teams and programs.
