NEWPORT NEWS, VA. -- The Apprentice School football team saw its season come to an end on Saturday in heartbreaking fashion as they lost 13-12 to Webber International.

In a tale of two halves, Webber jumped out midway in the first quarter as they marched on a 71-yard, 12-play drive capped by a Baylin Trujillo connecting with Kody Sallis with a 14-yard scoring pass.  The extra-point attempt put Webber up 7-0  with 6:04 left in the first quarter.

Webber closed the half on an 80-yard, seven-play drive as Brendan Deshiel scored on a three-yard run with 29 seconds left.  Ezekiel Hill blocked the extra-point attempt as Webber took a 13-0 lead into halftime.

The Builders erupted in the fourth quarter as the defense broke the scoring drought behind Izhia Roundtree picked up a fumble and returned it 26 yards for a touchdown with 6:48 left to trail 13-6.  

Special teams snuffed out one last Webber attempt as senior Kyell Collins blocked a 44-yard field goal attempt to give the Builders one last drive with three minutes left.  Apprentice School marched 74 yards on six plays as Paul Morgan connected with Rashawn Sims on a seven-yard scoring pass with 1:05 left.  The extra-point attempt missed and the Builders trailed 13-12.  Webber recovered the on-side kick attempt and ran out the clock to take the 13-12 victory.

Morgan was 17-of-30 for 142 yards and a touchdown to lead the Builders, as senior Louis Norwood caught a season-best six passes for 91 yards.  His 51-yard reception on the final drive got the Builders within striking range.

Defensively, Erol Carter had 10 tackles with three for a loss, a sack and a fumble recovery.  Jovan McCamey and Brock Bullock had eight tackles apiece.
