Builder Football Opens 2022 Season With Road Tilt at Averett

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Head Apprentice School football coach Vincent Brown is ready to start his second year at the helm as the Builders will open up the 2022 campaign Saturday night at Averett.

The Builders went 2-7 in Brown's first season as head coach, defeating Brevard in the season opener in overtime. This season, the Builders will host four games at home while playing the remaining five on the road, including trips to Christopher Newport, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Bluefield State and Sussex Community College.

The Cougars finished last season at 5-5 with wins over Christopher Newport, Greensboro, Maryville, Southern Virginia and LaGrange before a season-ending loss to Brevard, 40-3.

The Apprentice School leads the all-time series 2-0, winning 20-0 back in 2000 before a 20-14 win in 2002. Both games were played at Averett.
