Brown Named Small College Sports Report Football Coach of the Year

NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School head football coach Vincent Brown was named the Small College Sports Report Football Coach of the Year, the outlet announced late Monday.

Brown led the Builders to tie the single season wins mark in program history with nine while setting a new record for highest winning percentage at .900. The season included wins over NCAA Division III opponents Averett, Brevard, Christopher Newport and Bridgewater in the Neptune Bowl, the program's first win in the event.

Under his guidance, Apprentice averaged nearly 400 yards of offense per outing and almost 38 points per game while giving up just over 17 points per contest defensively. Numerous single game and season records were broken by individual Builder student-athletes, including Mason Tatum surpassing 2,000 yards passing, Jeremiah Morgan hitting a record 49-yard field goal and many others.

In just his second season at the helm of the program, Brown has amassed a record of 11-8 in his head coaching career.
