Lady Builders Fall 62-41 At Virginia Union

RICHMOND, VA. - Junior Tyisha Battle had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while sophomore Tamara Davis added 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals as the Apprentice School fell to NCAA Division II Virginia Union University 62-41 on Wednesday night.

The host Panthers opened the game scoring the first eight points.  Apprentice School cut the deficit to 13-9 with 8:32 left in the half on a pair of Battle free throws.  Virginia Union responded with a 17-2 run over the next 5:35 to take a 30-11 advantage on a layup from Ashlynn Massey with 2:56 left.  Following a Jasmine Pringle layup for the Lady Builders, VUU closed the half on a 10-2 run to hold a 40-15 advantage at the half.

In the second half, the Lady Builders cut that deficit to 15 on a Battle jumper with 5:11 left for a 52-37 margin.  That was as close as the Lady Builders got in the game.

Next up for the Apprentice School will be a matchup with U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association rival Southern Virginia University in a 2 pm tipoff at Apprentice Athletic Center.
