Lady Builders Fall 62-47 At US Merchant Marine Academy

KINGS POINT, NY - Sophomore Jasmine Gerald scored a season high 17 points as The Apprentice School lost to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 62-47 on Saturday in a non-conference matchup.

The Lady Builders took a 10-9 lead on a Jasmine Pringle jumper at the 14:48 mark but then the hosts went on a 10-1 run for a 19-11 lead with 4:11 left on a jumper from Emily Meehan.  Neither team shot well as the Lady Builders were 7-of-23 from the floor (23.3%) while USMMA was only slightly warmer at 10-for-39 (25.6%).

After trailing 26-19 at the half, the Lady Builders cut the lead to 32-29 on a Tyisha Battle layup with 13:45 left.  From there, the Mariners went on another 10-1 run for a 42-30 advantage with 8:43 left on a Meehan layup.  The lead got no less than eight points the rest of the way.

Tamara Davis topped the team on the boards with 12 for the Lady Builders while Valerie Creecy added 10.  Pringle and Battle were next in line scoring with nine points apiece.  Roshenda Josephs paced the hosts with 12 points, while Rebecca Grimes and Meehan added 11 each.

Apprentice School closes out the New York swing on Sunday with a 1 pm tip against Briarcliffe College in Long Island.
