Apprentice Wrestling drops two at the Trojan Duals
Mount Olive, NC - THe Apprentice Wrestling team dropped a pair of dual meets on the road Sunday during a tri-meet with Mount Olive University and St Andrew's Presbyterian college.

After conceding a forfeit at 125, Apprentice would win 5 of 9 contested bouts for a tied team score of 29-29. SAPC would claim the dual based on tiebreaking criteria. Dillon Messick (133), Matthew Henson (165), Caleb Hartung (197) and Peter Cortapasso (285) each recorded pins, while Jordan Robins notched a 15-0 tech fall.

In the second dual, the hosting Trojans stopped Apprentice with a 31-15 team score.  After forfeiting at 125 again, Messick recorded a 12-5 decision over one of Mt Olive's standouts at 133. A forfeit from the Trojans at 141 put Apprentice ahead 9-3, but that lead was short lived as the hosts reeled off wins in the next six consecutive bouts. Russ Pierce cut the deficit slightly, finding a first period pin at 285.

Freshman Jacob Seale had some success on the day, winning a pair of extra matches against the starting 125 pounders from both opposing teams, including a pin.

Next up, January 8th; The Builders will head to Ursinus College for the Manganaro Duals. Apprentice is slated to face Keystone College, Alvernia, Shippensburg and Southern Maine.
