Lady Builders Compete in Wasp Open

EMORY, Va. - Two members of the Apprentice School women's wrestling team traveled to Emory & Henry on Sunday to compete in the Wasps Open for some freestyle competition.

The event was a learning experience for both ladies as it was the first ever freestyle action for freshman Sydnie Dunham, and the first ever competition of any kind for senior Raya Sessoms.

Dunham finished in sixth at 130 pounds.  In her bracket were the Nos. 2 and 3 ranked women in the country across all NCAA college divisions from King College and Presbyterian.

Sessoms was also sixth at 170 lbs, notching her first collegiate win with a 14-4 technical fall over Aleksandra Bieszczad of Mount Olive. In her bracket was also the No. 2 ranked 170 pound wrestler from King College, as well as the No. 4 ranked 155 pound also from King.

The ladies will next travel with the men's team to compete in the Multi-Divisional NWCA National Duals in Louisville, Kentucky. The men's team will be seeking their first NCWA National Dual title at the event, while the ladies will be competing across multiple divisions.
