2012-13 Top 10 Games - Baseball Blasts Bridgewater

The baseball team makes its first appearance in the Top 10 Games of 2012-13 coming in at number six with its April 11, 2013 game against nationally-ranked Bridgewater College.

Apprentice School scored five runs in the second and six more in the third to blast the Eagles 14-2 and record their first win over a nationally-ranked opponent in over five years.

In the second, the Builders had four hits to help push in the five runs and not a hit went out of the infield.  Run scoring singles from Jordan Cowles and Chris Aldridge helped push the Builders to the early advantage.

After giving up a run in the third, the Builders broke it open with a six-run bottom of the third as Zach Harding drove in a pair to lift the Builders to an 11-1 lead after three complete.

Freshman Taylor Gomer threw seven innings to earn the win allowing four hits and five strikeouts.  Aldridge and Harding had three hits each as the Builders recorded their first win over a nationally-ranked opponent since a 2008 11-10 win over NCAA Division II Kutztown University in the Builder Invitational.

Bridgewater ended the season as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular-season champion and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Be on the lookout on Friday as we start the top five games of 2012-13.
