The Apprentice School football team has a short week this week with a Friday afternoon matchup at Salem (VA) Stadium with in-state rival Southern Virginia University.
Apprentice School leads the all-time series 8-1 and has won two of the last three games. The series has been tightly contested as the last three games have been decided by a total of 10 points.
The Builders enter the game coming off a 44-14 loss to Bridgewater College on Trades Day/Homecoming. Southern Virginia comes into the game after a tough 19-16 loss to Virginia University of Lynchburg.
This is a matchup of two teams on nearly identical paths thus far. Both lost their openers, won their second games, and have lost three in a row since. Each team has forced one more turnover than they have had and are within a yard of averaging the same amount of offense per game.
Friday's game marks the first time that the Builders have played a Friday game since Oct. 11, 1996 when they lost 41-30 at William Paterson (NJ).
